Applying AI/ML and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to DoD Operational Energy

The OE Discovery Project is a three-year DoD agile development effort to research the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, technologies, and methodologies to support the management of Science and Technology (S&T) investment portfolios in order to improve DoD warfighting capabilities.

Redhorse applied data science and agile software development practices to prototype a minimum viable product (MVP) that demonstrated the discovery capabilities of research and engineering investment information in the Operational Energy research domain. The created Machine Learning (ML)-powered, virtual collaborative environment enables acquisition management, coordination, integration, and deconfliction of S&T investment portfolios; allowing the OE Innovation Enterprise (DoD and all military services and departments) to connect similar efforts to reduce redundancy/duplication, gain efficiencies, and make better decisions about where to spend money. It will enhance the ability to research technologies, acquire them and deploy to the warfighter.
