Telecommunications transformation consulting for NOAA NWS
The National Weather Service (NWS) provides weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the US, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas, for the protection of life and property and the enhancement of the national economy. Redhorse staff provided network resilience and capacity support as part of the NWS Dissemination Portfolio and NOAA’s Integrated Dissemination Program (IDP).
Redhorse telecommunications experts advised the NWS’s efforts to fully transition from their current network to one that will better support their short- and long-term needs for network reliance and capacity to serve the NWS mission. Our work included conducting nation-wide network and single point of failure audits that provided crucial information for the development of a comprehensive mitigation plan, with sites prioritized by mission risk and cost to mitigate disruption. Redhorse experts also supported efforts to provide and maintain network architecture artifacts for the current (“as is”) network, as well as provide acquisition support to the future (“to be”) network and follow-on contract.
